SUBSTANTIAL GIFTS
FUNDS FROM BRIDGE PARTIES
The members of the Oriental BayRoseneath branch of the Women's National Reserve at the end of September concluded their weekly Monday bridge parties in aid of the Residential Nursery. They have been able to pay to the nursery the annual commitment of £60, donate £37 10s for an electric ironer, and give £18 towards the purchase of E.P.S. equipment, leaving a substantial credit balance to meet any urgent needs of the nursery. This month the Monday parties have cleared £11 towards the Lepers' Christmas Cheer.
During the last two months the fortnightly Thursday parties have raised £52 towards the Victoria League's effort in aid of the King George and Queen Elizabeth hostel for New Zealand soldiers in London, and £27 towards comforts for our soldiers in hospitals. The next party, on November 5, will provide extra Christmas comforts for the women patients at Porirua Hospital.
