• .!?; THE SOLOMONS. • London.—ln the Solomons, the Japanese have made further thrusts against the American positions on Guadalcanal. One attack penetrated the American lines, but a successful counter-attack restored the original position. Two other enemy thrusts on the island have been repelled. There are no reports of any recent naval action in this area, AXIS PETRCL SITUATION. London. —The Allied Air Forces' successes against enemy tankers is leading to the'belief in Cairo that the Axis petrol situation in' Libya will soon become acute.—U.P.A.
