NEEDLESS RUSH ON FLOUR
<P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 29. A denial that there was any foundation in persistent rumours that flour was about to be rationed was made today by Mr. R. McPherson, Dominion wheat and flour controller. Mr. McPherson said that the rumours were apparently widespread, as sales of household flour had now suddenly increased very considerably throughout the Dominion in the lnst two or three weeks.
So far. he said, no harm had been done through the rush on the part of householders to lay in supplies because there were adequate stores of flour. At the same time, he emphasised that unless householders took care over the storage of their .flour it might - depreciate 4n- quality*. • • -
