HOSPITAL FINANCES

A. comparison of receipts and payments with estimates for the six months ended September 30, 1942, was made in figures presented to the Wellington Hospital Board last night. Under the heading of gross ordinary expenditure the actual payments for the six months were shown at £287,844. less receipts other than subsidies and levies. £119.389. leaving a total of £168,455. The estimated payments were shown at £270,686, and the estimated receipts other than subsidies and levies at £117,741, the difference being £152,945. The chairman (Mr. .F. Castle) said that the position was much the same as in the first six months of previous years, namely, that the actual payments were slightly in excess of the estimates. Assuming that nothing out of the ordinary occurred in the second six months, the actual figures should be pretty close to-the estimates.
