JAPS IN OWEN STANLEY RANGE

DEFENDERS ON TOP LONDON, September 27. The Japanese in New Guinea have now been held up for 10 days in the Owen Stanley Range in their drive towards Port Moresby. Australian patrols are getting the upper hand, and constant air attacks by Allied planes are disrupting Japanese communications. One correspondent says that the battle for supplies has now become vital, and for the moment the Allies are getting the better of it, as well as coming out on top in the day-to-day patrol clashes.
