NATIONAL YEARLING SALES

New sires will figure prominently in the next National Sales catalogue. Among these will be the English Derby winner Coronach, and the defunct "Fairway horse Golden Eagle, who accompanied Coronach to New Zealand and died in his first season after being mated with a few mares. The Grange Stud at Westmere will be sending yearlings by him to the sales out of four well-bred mares —Amyril, Barbarcan, Greenwich, and Merial. The first is a colt and the others are fillies, Phaleron Bay will be represented by colts from Columba and Miss Pippin (imp.), and fillies from Going Gay and Good Conduct. The champion stallion Foxbridge will have a record list of fillies to represent him. Mr. J. A. Mitchell, Longburn, has two, the dams being Senorita and Golden Princess, the latter the dam of the Great Northern Derby winner Regal Fox. Mr. Wm, Alexander, Te Awamutu, also has two, a sister to the Queensland Derby winner Fearless Fox, and a three-quar-ter sister to the same horse. The Alton* Lodge Stud, Te Kauwhata, is sending a filly out of My Own, and therefore a half-sister to the New Zealand ■ Cup winner Yours Truly, while the Trelawny Stud has colts by Foxbridge from Rippling Waters, Shirred Ribbon, and the imported mare Grey Eagle, and fillies from Astarth and Ann Acre. The Irish St. Leger winner Battle Song will also be represented by his first crop,, as will New Zealand-bred- sires in Defaulter, by Defoe, Beau Pere's son Silver Stick, Posterity's son Legatee, , and Paper Moneys son Paper Slipper.1, Entries now being received indicate that the catalogue this year will be a very strong one. ■ ■
