ARMY & WELLINGTON DRAW
Probably the brightest, game seun on the Basin Reserve this season was turned on by a Manawatu Army team and a Wellington representative Association football side on Saturday. Army showed themselves "to be superior in most branches of the play. Their forwards and halves were fast and accurate in passing and ball-control, and they were quick to take the Initiative. The defence, too, was very sound. Wellington were not Gelding their strongest eleven, but after they had been two goals down at the spell they succeeded, mainly by perseverance and some bouts of reall.v soon football in evening the score and taking the lead with 3-2. They were having much more of the ball than in the first half, and the Army defence was sorely tried several times. In the last ten minutes, however. Army resumed the offensive and ended the game with a draw. On the genera] trend of the game Wellington were fortunate not to be beaten Scorers for Army were Craggs and McLagan (2), and for Wellington Cleal, Rogers, and Bell. Final score: aianawatu Army 3, Wellington 3. , Curtain-raisers were played between Wellington and Hutt Valley lower division teams. Tho games resulted as follows:—Fourth division: Wellington 3, Hutt Valley 3. Fifth division: Hutt Valley 2. Wellington 1. Sixth division: Wellington 5, Hutt Valley 2.
