TWINE AND ROPE
NEED FOR CONSERVATION The Minister of Supply and Munitions (Mr. Sullivan) announced yesterday that control measures had been / instituted to cover all types of cordage, the term embracing twine, rope, or cable manufactured from any fibre. A notice in the Gazette prohibits the sale, transfer, or disposal of any cordage or fibre without prior authority being given. The notice also calls for certain returns of stocks. . . The Minister said that special attention had been given to the needs of farmers, foundries, factories, and contractors: Provision was made ioi dealers to supply binder, bagging, and hay-baling twines to farmers nvquantities not exceeding the amount^ purchased in any corresponding monthly P^^bf ySded the Minister, could do much to assist in conserving twine. He suggested, as examples^the use of only one loop uvthe tying of parcels instead of two and three loops, the use of the lightest possibletype, of twine, and.the saving of odd pieces for future' "ss. ■ ■-.-■■■' ,
