Esperantist in Cairo. A letter from Nurse Phyllis Blair, a Wellington Esperantist who is serving as a V.A.D. at the No. 1 New Zealand General Hospital in the Middle East, was read at the meeting of the Karori Esperanto Society this week. The letter gave an interesting picture of life in Cairo and concluded with a message of good wishes to Esperantists in Wellington. Reading of "King Lear." The Wellington Shakespeare Society, at the August meeting, read "King Lear" under the direction of Mr. C. G. Bloore. Mr. E. C. Harvie, as Lear, gave an outstanding reading, and the big cast provided an opportunity for a number of the younger members to display their talents. There was a large audience. . Those who read were Mesdames Jeffreys. Bloore, Bagnall, and McLean, Misses Jackson. Reilly, Cov/an, Carte, and Messrs. Harvie, Han kins. Pears, Bloore. Feltham, McLean, and Nicol.
