The extent of Britain's civilian war effort was outlined by the Minister of National Service, Mr. Bevin, yesterday when he said that out of 33,000,000 people between 14 and 65 years of age 22,000,000 were engaged in work connected with the war. Fifty thousand women were being interviewed weekly, and they were going into industry and the auxiliary services at the rate of 20,000 a week.
