NON-COMPLIANCE WARN#k
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This -T>*£A Complaints that various ; retailer* tbhroughout the country were either, hot taking clothing coupons at all or-W«r« taking less than the amount set. out in the schedule had become so numerous that the controller, Mr. I. Thomas, proposed engaging inspector* immediately with a ;view to prosecutions at the earliest possible moment, said Mr. L. C. Kernahan, secretary-of the Canterbury and Westland Drapery and Allied Trades Price Committee. Numerous complaints had been received by the controller and at'tha committee's offlce, he said, and he indicated that it would be in the inte** ests of retailers to comply strictly with the regulations. The controller had agreed at the outset of rationing that it was unnecessary to license retailers. If, however, retailers were not prepared to comply strictly with the regulations the controller would have no alternative other than to see that the retailers were registered and issued with a licence to trade. A penalty for breach of the regulations would then, mean that the retailer might be delicensed and prohibited from trading in-ration-ed commodities. . •
