HUTT COUNTY
A further emergency meeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday afternoon to deal with earthquake damage within the county. It was decided that as far as possible owners should be encouraged to arrange for their own repairs, and that where this was not possible inquiries should bo made at once at the county office, Bowen House. Wellington. Wherever there is a case of hardship because the owner cannot pay for repairs, the council will investigate the matter. The council is endeavouring to arrange with the building committee to supply the necessary labour to supplement the work of the building, contractors.
