"! Mr. John M&ynard Keynes, C.8., has been editor of the "Economic Journal" since 1912. He is secretary of the Royal Economic Society, and a member of the Chancellor of the Exchequer's Consultation Committee. He was born in Cambridge in 1883. He was principal representative of the Treasury at-the Paris Peace Conference, and deputy for the Chancellor of the Exchequer on

the Supreme Economic Council from January to June, 1919. He has written widely on currency and finance.

Mr. Augustus John, R.A., was born in 1878. He was created an associate of the Royal Academy in 1921, and a member in 1928. From 1933-41 he was a trustee of the Tate Gallery. In 1938 he resigned from the Royal Academy, being re-elected in 1940.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Charles Frederick Algernon Portal, G.C.8., Chief of the Air Staff since 1940, was born in 1893. He served in the European war from 1914 to 1918, receiving the D.S.O. and bar and the M.C. He commanded the British forces in Aden in 1934-35. In 1940 he was Air Officer Command-ing-in-Chief, Bomber Command. He was cx-eated C.B. in 1939, and in the following year K.C.B.

Air Marshal Arthur Travers 'Harris, X.C.8.. was born in 1892. After serving in the European war, he joined the R.A.F. in 1919, and became an air marshal in 1941, having since been seconded for special duty.
