OUTSIZE POTATOES
GROWN BY WOMEN
Three huge potatoes, weighing- well on towards 51b.altogether, were tabled by Councillor.. E. M. Gilmer , at > last night's meeting of the City ' Council. They were produced to show what the women, of the Services- • Club could do. "What could the men-riot-do in this way?" asked Councillor Gilmer amidst laughter.
The exhibit, and the question, were quite in order at the meeting, which had passed a resolution , giving residents permission to.'grow vegetables on Town Belt areas to be defined by the Director of Parks and Reserves on the following conditions: —Plots to be 25ft by 45ft, tenure to be for 12 months from June 1 to May 31, 2s to be charged as registration fee, and not more than two plots to be made,available to one applicant.
