BIG E.P.S. TRIAL
TE ARO DISTRICT
On Saturday week a big E.P.S. trial will be held in districts Nos. 12, 14, and 15, which cover what is generally known as Te Aro Flat, and the hill residential lands on either side, the boundaries of the combined area being approximately from Cable Street to Buckle Street, and, easti and west, from the Mount Victoria slopes of the Town Belt, includirig-Governmerit House and Wellington College reserve, to Webb Street. The trial was to have been held next Saturday, but Has been postponed for a week on account of the big United Nations Day parade.
Commenting ixpon' the furthering ' of plans for the city 'as a whole, the •Mayor said yesterday that the emergency alarm system is continually manned, and officers of the E.P.sr are lon duty at the central control room through the whole 24 hours. Every arrangement had been made to ensure the immediate sounding of the alarm should need arise.
