BEHAVIOUR OF WOMEN
MELBOURNE POLICE PERTURBED
(Rec. 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 9. The police are greatly perturbed at what they describe as the "shameful behaviour" of women and girls who are roaming the streets and literally throwing themselves at soldiers and sailors. - . The police are seeking wider authority to prevent women from drinking in hotels and walking in' the streets until the early morning and generally "behaving disgracefully." The Lord Mayor of Melbourne has suggested a curfew for women. Police believe this is the only way out unless, alternatively, the law is amended to prohibit women and girls drinking in hotels and lounges,
