The following offenders against military law have recently been dealt with by District Court-martial:— Sapper George Dudley Bernard Burns, found guilty of desertion when on active service from Ntw Zealand Engineer and Ordnance Training Depot, Egypt, on January 12, 1942, until arrested in Australia on April 6, 1942, was sentenced to be imprisoned with hard labour for two years. Private John Henry Dowie, found guilty of absenting himself without leave, from April 24 until May 21, was sentenced to be imprisoned with hard labour for sixty days. The Court consisted of LieutenantColonel H. J. Thompson, M.C., Captain S Hardy, Captain C. P. Crane, and Captain W Huse. Major A. B. Siev- | wright, E.D., attended as JudgeAdvocate.
