HERE AND THERE
Brooklyn Plunket Society. The report presented at the twentieth annual meeting of the Brooklyn Plunket Society showed a very successful year's work. Mrs. H. Jowett, president of the Wellington branch, presided. Appreciation was expressed of the work and services of Nurses Brown, Watts, and Hughes. Among the officers elected were: President, i Mrs. A. B. France; vice-presidents. Mesdames Gourley, Parton, Alexander, and Miss Crabtree; secretary, Mrs. W Pettengell; treasurer, Mrs. E. H. Heppleston. Quilt for Galway Guild. A handsome patchwork quilt made by the president of the Dickens Fellowship, Mrs. Cruttenden, for the Lady Galway Guild, was displayed at a recent meeting of the Fellowship, and aroused much admiration. An interesting programme was presented, those taking part being Misses Dorothy De Cent and Margaret Jardine, who gave a reading entitled "The Shades of Shakespeare and Dickens"; Mr. and I Mrs. Jesson, in a scene from "Little Dorrit"; Mr. W. D. Charlton, who gave a summary of the study book of the year, "Sketches by Boz," and a repetition of his clever and amusing paper, "The Pickwickians of 1942"; Mrs. Nicholls, who gave pianoforte solos; and Mr. Val Jones, who sang. The accompaniments were played by i Mrs. V. Wakelin.
