JAPANESE IN YUNNAN

LONDON, June 8. After a fortnight's lull in China the Japanese are making a, new thrust into Yunnan, China's back door, from the Burma frontier. The Japanese have clashed with the Chinese Expeditionary Force which got safely away from Burma. The battle around Chuhsien has now gone into its third day, and a big battle is reported to be going on north of Chuhsien. In south China, Japanese bombers have repeatedly attacked four towns in Kwangtung in support of their land operations north of Canton.
