WARNING FROM MR. CURTIN
LONDON, June 8
In Australia, Mr. J. H. Curtin, the Prime Minister, has spoken about the shelling of the mainland by a Japanese submarine. He said what had happened in Australian waters recently was b"t a taste. The Australian Government was under no illusions, and there would be many lasting scars on Australian soil and on the people.
He asked the Australian people to give all they could to the new Liberty Loan. The Australian Government wanted to develop financial power so that one day Malaya. Singapore, the Philippines, and the Netherlands East Indies might be avenged. Meanwhile Allied forces are still hunting the Japanese submarines.
