ALL TO TAKE PART

UNITED NATIONS DAY

A GREAT SPECTACLE

It is for everyone who can possibly do so to take part in making a really great occasion of the first celebration of United Nations Day on Saturday next, said the Mayor, Mr*.; Hislop, today.

The parade of representative sections of all the services and arms of the United Nations would present a great spectacle, and it was for the people of Wellington to mark, as he was sure they would, the symbolising in impressive style of the firm and determined joining of hands of the peoples of the United Nations in the fight for the present and future welfare of freedom-loving peoples.

Mr. Hislop asks particularly that a full display of bunting shall be flown.

In view of the fact that al 1 the Lower Hutt military units will be parading in Wellington, and also because, at the present time, it is inadvisable to congregate people, the Lower Hutt City Council decided last evening that no special demonstration will be held there. Residents are asked, where possible, to fly the flags of the United Nations.
