SINKINGS OF TURKISH SHIPS
ISTANBUL, June 7. Turkey has prohibited Turkish ships sailing to the Black Sea, presumably in consequence of recent sinkings of Turkish ships by unidentified submarines. Axis propaganda has attributed the sinkings to Russian submarines, but it is significant that these mysterious 'submarines are reluctant to destroy ships carrying merchandise for Germany.
Pleading guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to stealing from the Victoria Laundry, where he was employed, linen valued at £8 18s, John Harold Morris, aged 33, a laundryman. was sentenced by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
