MIDWAY ISLAND BATTLE

JAPS WITHDRAWING

"NOT DEFEATED, YET"

LONDON, June 7. Admiral E. J. King, CommanderinrChief of the United States Fleet, stated that the units of the Japanese fleet were withdrawing from the Midway area, but that they might return. He added: "I would not say they had been defeated, yet." . . '' ■. .. Admiral King added that operations were going on in the North Pacific, where the enemy had attacked Dutch Hai'bour. The -position in that area is obscure; ■ It is noted in London that the heaviest enemy losses off Midway have been among aircraft-carriers and planes, and that most of the attacking has been done by aircraft of the U.S. Navy, Army, and Marine Corps.

Details of the Coral Sea battle are soon to be published.
