THE PRESENT STAGE

MIDDLE OF SECOND ROUND

(Rec. 11 sum.) * RUGBY, June 7.

The general view in London of the fighting,in Libya as revealed by the latest Army communique is that th« opposing forces are now about in the middle of the second round.

The British attack was followed by an enemy counter-attack which was repulsed. This counter-attack originated from a concentration of armoured forces in the now famous gap in the line stretching from Gazala in the north to Bir Hacheim in the south.

The steadiness and stamina of the Free French troops in Bir Hacheim is still a matter for congratulation.— 8.0. W.
