RECKLESS NAZI LIES
REVENGE RAIDS ON BRITAIN
RUGBY, June 6,
Discussing the recent revenge raids by fee Luftwaffe, the Minister of Home Security, Mr, Morrison, said that the raids had certain interesting features. One was the increasingly shameless naked exaggeration of the significance of these raids in the Nazi reports to their own'countvy. Exeter had become an important port, Canterbury a great centre of transport, and Ipswich was desci'ibed as an alternative port of supply for London. The whole scale and significance of the raids wag magnified 50 times over. Never had Goebbels's propagandists lied more recklessly than in the past few weeks.
The time must come, however, when they would try to give a irtore solid basis to their assertions, if that did happen, it would mean that Hitler would be forced to move bombers which he sorely needed elsewhere and to hazard them against the greatly increased power of Britain's night de» fences. It would mean that Britain's civil defences must be ready to give all they had of skill and devotion, and the civil population he knew would play their part.—B.O.W.
