£106,000 PATRIOTIC DRIVE

More than 1200 workers have already promised their assistance in the fiveday drive for patriotic funds which is scheduled to take place from June Ito June 5 inclusive. In this period the promoters have' set out to raise £106,000 by direct giving in the Wellington metropolitan area, the money to be. used for general patriotic purposes. I

Annand-Smith, 38 committees have been arranged, while the city and Te Aro area is m charge of ten captains, each with an energetic team of workers. The city and Te Aro area has promised a quota of £80,000, and has issued a challenge to the rest of the area to raise an equal sum. The eastern suburbs have promised a quota of £12,000 and the Hutt Valley objective is £28,000. The slogan of the compaign is, "One day's income from every individual, and from commercial houses as much as they can- afford." Many one-man businesses have promised a minimum of £10.
