ENEMY IN TENG-YUEH
FIGHTING CONTINUES

. *' CHUNGKING, May 15. A communique says that heavilyreinforced Japanese units have fought their way into Tcng-yueh, but that fighting in that area is still in progress. The main Japanese column, which has driven 125 miles up the Burma Road, is reported to be still at Hung-mushu on the west bank of the Salween -where the Chinese are attacking. Inside Burma, the Japanese troops which are. advancing northward along the railway from Mandalay, occupied Kirii station on May 9. while the Japanese advancing westward of Bharno made a forced crossing of the Irrawaddy on the evening of May 10. This was bitterly resisted by the Chinese. ;
