FATAL COLLISION

JURY ACQUITS MOTORIST

A verdict of not guilty was returned by the jury in the Supreme Court yesterday in the case in which Sydney Lambert Roach, a labourer, employed by the Wellington City Council, was charged with negligent driving causing the death of lan Ross Biggs, aged 9. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Mvers) was on the Bench. Mr. C. H. Weston, K.C., and Mr. W. R. Birks appeared for the Crown, and Mr. R. R. Scott for the defence.

The accident occurred in Broadway, Miramar, at the intersection of. Kauri Street. The boy was riding a bicycle out of Kauri Street and was struck by the accused's car, receiving injuries from which he died.
