"KEEP BALL ROLLING"

F.A. VIEWPOINT

Agreement with the English policy that sport acted.as a lubricant to. the war machine and'was not a clog was expressed by Mr. J. Meltzer at the annual meeting of 'the Wellington Football Association last night. • He said he believed that winter sport, played under proper control, would serve the useful purpose of maintaining public morale, and on his suggestion the meeting gave full power, and discretion to the incoming management committee, to be used in its conduct of the affairs of the association in the coming season. '

Mr. Meltzer said that he did not think the association need apologise for carrying on with the game. Ministerial statements and public opinion supported that policy. ' Mr. J. J. Roberts, the president of the association, said it was^ the duty of the association and its supporters to keep the ball' rolling. The fixing of the age limits for the season's competitions was left to the management committee. • %

Officers • were elected as follows:— Patron, the Governor-General; president, Mr. J. J. Roberts; vice-presi-dents, all re-elected; management committee, Messrs. E. J. Gates, R. Bold, A. Costelloe, C. Ballard, J. Meltzer, ~%. Dougan, and R. Graves; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. J. Kean; delegates to N.Z.F.A., Messrs. W. J.- Vaney and W. B. Hicks.
