In the Philippines General MacArthur's troops have taken the offensive and in a surprise thrust have captured a number of enemy advanced posts. The attaclc was launched along the whole line and on the right flank forward elements of the Japanese troops were forced back several miles.
A Washington message says, however, that the main enemy positions have not yet been penetrated.
