MAXIMUM COMPENSATION
The maximum compensation payable, £1000, has been awarded to Marion Alexander, widow, of Lower Hutt, on a claim heard before Mr. Justice O'Regan in respect of the death of her husband, James Alexander, an employee of Metters (N.Z.), Ltd., Petone. In a reserved judgment his Honour has held that Alexander died as the result of injury by accident arising out of his employment, and not of disease, as contended by the defendant company. Funeral expenses amounting to £23 6s, £21 costs, and £2 2sfor each medical witness have been allowed the plaintiff.
