U.S. TANKER TORPEDOED
WASHINGTON, February 24,
The navy announced that the United States tanker Cities Service Empire (8103 tons) was torpedoed and sunk oft the Atlantic coast early on Sunday. Eleven members of the crew were lost. Thirty survivors landed at Fort Pierce, Florida.
