Members of the Paremata Patriotic Committee, Mesdames Hendry, Grigg, and Williams, organised an enjoyable dance for residents of the district and members of the armed forces at the Paremata Hall on Saturday evening. Corporal T. Williams was in charge. Dancing selections were played by Mrs. P. McCarthy. The officers present were Lieutenant-Colonel Allen, Lieutenants Sim and Lunley. The proceeds of the dance were in aid of the fund for local soldiers serving overseas. Greater Need of Nursery Now. The annual general meeting of the Oriental Bay-Roseneath branch of the Residential Nursery, W.N.R., was held yesterday at the home of Mrs. T. F. Walshe. Mrs. F. Porter, president of the Residential Nuf scry, presided. Miss Shepherd was also present. Mrs. Porter congratulated the branch on its successful year. She said thatalthough a considerable sum had been raised for patriotic purposes the important work of the Residential Nursery had not been allowed to lapse in anyway. The need for the nursery was even greater than in the day? of peace. The election of officers for 1942 resulted:—President, Mrs. T. F. Walshe; treasurer, Mrs. H. Stringer; secretary, Mrs. M. C. Price; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames W. Burton, Lewis, Lundius, Kennedy, and Israel; committee, Mesdames Gillespie, Turner, Bowater, McMenamin, Longmore, J. Kessell, H. Parkinson, W. H. ; 'Zander, Spears, and Corliss.
