PACIFIC DEFENCE
DISCUSSIONS IN AUSTRALIA
(Rec. 9 a.m.) CANBERRA, Feb. 24.
The necessity for continuing important discussions on Pacific defence by, the Advisory War Council, in conjunction with the. chiefs of staff of Australia and New Zealand, together with Dominion advisers, is expected to cause an interruption of the Parliamentary session.
The War Council met again today for several hours. The Prime Minister made the following statement tonight: "The meeting conducted a stocktaking of the war position and laid down general principles to meet the existing situation."
