TORPEDOED BY U-BOAT
U.S. COASTGUARD CUTTER
LONDON, Feb. 23
The United States Navy Department announces that the Coastguard cutter Alexander Hamilton (2000 tons) was torpedoed by an enemy submarine off the coast of Iceland. While being towed to port she had to be sunk by gunfire.
