PRESSED HARD
JAPANESE DRIVE AT
RANGOON
LOSS DISREGARDED
LONDON, February 23
In Burma the enemy is continuing his full-scale attack towards Rangoon, and it is stated in London today that the onslaught is being pressed with the greatest intensity in spite of.heavy losses. In the air the Royal Air Force continues to give strong support to our ground troops. The latest news is that British planes have bombed an enemy column between the Bilin River and a place near the mouth of the Sittang River. This suggests that the enemy has made some progress to the line of this river. All-India radio said today in a broadcast message picked up from Rangoon that four enemy aircraft had been destroyed in battles in the Bilin and Sittang Rivers area. The Royal Air Force is supported in many attacks by the Indian Air Force and the American Volunteer Group.
Reuter reports that the Indian Air Force has been continuously in action in Burma for the last 15 weeks.
