CITY HOSPITALITY
An enjoyable dance was given by the girls of the Spinsters 1' Club on Saturday night and was well attended by men of the fighting services and Merchant Navy. Music was provided by I a dance orchestra, and a savoury i supper was served by the members. ,On Friday night the informal dance was well attended, and on Sunday the club was again a popular rendezvous. Songs were given by Keith Heyder. R.N.Z.A.F., and dance extras were played by a soldier guest. THE iV.A.A.F. CLUB. The W.A.A.F. Club, under *the sponsorship of the Y.W.C.A., held its usual dance on Saturday night at its hall, 166 Cuba Street. Arrangements and hostessing were in the hands of members of the stores section of the W.A.A.F. SUNDAY AT THE V.M.C.A. Women members of the Khandallah Presbyterian Church, with the president, Mrs. Hudson, hostessed the soldiers' tea at the V.M.C.A on Sunday. Mr. M. S. Galloway wa- chairman. Slid special guests included Mr. and Mrs. L. Macartney, Mrs. Galloway, and Lieutenant Galloway. The birthday cake for February was cut by Mrs. Hudson, and items a were given by Misses O. Burton, M*'Atkinson, O. Reid, N. Gray, M. Bell, and Sergeant R. Sloan. The accompanists were Mrs. C. McDonald, Misses N. Gray, and L. Findlay, and the song leader was Mr. Ken Macaulay. : TOC H CLUB. Men who visited the Toe H Servicemen's Club at the weekend were entertained at the usual weekly dance on Friday at the Toe H rooms, 216 Lamb ton Quay, and to dinner and tea as usual on Sunday.- The men always greatly appreciate all that is. done for them in this respect. On Sunday evening a good programme was contributed by members of the "Yours and Mine" review company. Miss Molly Newman was the accompanist, and items were given by Miss M. Newman and Mr. R. Pearee (songs), Miss K. Berry (song and tap dance), and Mr. B. Dennis, assisted by Mr. P. Cousins (comedy and ventriloquism). Supper was served by girls of the club. RENOVATIONS AT "WEBBY'S." , Saturday evening was particularly gay at Webby's Club, and large crowds of servicejn^n entered into the fun of t;he novejties presented on that occasion. Twp brothers ; ; |rpm Nelson received a pair of sofik^ each, made and presented by Mrs. Loader. Sunday afternoon at the club was quiet and informal but in the evening dancing was enjoyed. The committee is grateful to the dornr of magazines for the clubroom, and to the women who provide cakes and savouries for the supper. At present the clubroom is in the process of being painted and entirely renovated.
