ARMY RULE IN URUGUAY
MONTEVIDEO, February 21,
The President, General Alfredo Baldomir, has issued a decree dissolving Parliament, cancelling the elections scheduled Tor March 29, and. placing Uruguay under the control of the army. The action is aimed at the political machinations of the pro-Axis opposition under Senor Deherrera.
Following the issue of the decree, Senor Deherrera unsuccessfully attempted a Fascist rebellion. He proclaimed himself the pro-Axis President and attempted to storm the Parliament building, but the police broke up the demonstrators and restored order.
