LINE IN BURMA
STRUGGLE ON BILIN
AIR BLOWS AT ENEMY
LONDON, February 22
From Burma, the only news re-
ccived today was through the Columbia Broadcasting System, which quoted a broadcast from Rangoon by way of All India radio. This said that fighting continued in the area between the Bilin and / Sittang Rivers with our troops inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy It added that Allied air forces had again been most active in the front line, giving powerful support to our ground forces. The Sittang River, mentioned in today's broadcast, lies roughly 25 miles west of the Bilin and is the last of the river defences of Rangoon. It is stated in London that the Japanese claim to have captured the town of Pegu, 25 miles west of the Sittang, can be regarded as completely unfounded.
