FARADAY MEDAL AWARD

A Russian, Dr. Peter Kapitza, director of the Institute of Physical Problems at the Academy of Sciences, Moscow, has been awarded the Faraday Medal for his contributions to science in the generation of and utilisation oi intense magnetic fields. Dr Kapitza was formerly assistant director of magnetic research at Cavendish Laboratory. Cambridge.—B.O.W,
