BLACK-OUT TONIGHT

FIRE SECTIONS TO TURN OUT

The black-out exercise tonight, to commence on the sounding of the siren alarm (intermittent blasts spaced over two minutes), is to be observed promptly and thoroughly by all people within the city, Hutt Valley, eastern bays, and nearby county areas. The black-out is to continue until the allclear (a continuous sounding of the sirens for two minutes). Only members of the wardens' groups are being called out by the chairmen of the E.P.S. organisations.

However, in order that the men under him may gain experience of working under black-out conditions, the City Fire Controller, Superintendent C. A. Woolley, has directed that members of the Fire Service of the Wellington E.P.S. are to mobilise at their respective district fire posts oh the sounding of the alarm.

Superintendent Hume, Lower Hutt City, is also calling out the fire service sections which come under his direction.
