SALMON AT WAITAKI
Present indications point to an exceptionally good run of salmon in the Waitaki River this year. During last week many good fish were seen at the mouth of the river, but not until Saturday were there any indications that they were moving up. Fishing upstream from the bridge, Mr.T. A. Sim, of Oamaru, took, his first salmon for the season on Saturday. It • was in splendid condition and weighed 131b. Shortly afterwards he landed a second fish, of 121b. The biggest fish of the day was secured by Mr. W. Dewar. also of Oamaru. who was fishing well up the river. This weighed 221b, The next best was a salmon of 171b.
