NO VITAL DAMAGE

AIR INSTALLATIONS

(Rec. 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 20. No direct information has been received by the Press from Darwin concerning the raids. The only additional information comes from the Minister of Air, who stated that he had been advised that no vital damage has been done to R.A.A.F. installations, while the casualties among the three services at Darwin did not exceed eight killed.

An Australian machine made a reconnaissance flight over the Bismarck Archipelago and was attacked by a Japanese fighter, which it brought down.
