MUCH DAMAGE DONE

The Prime Minister, Mr. J. Curtin, announced late tonight details of the bombing of Darwin, the news of which is still meagre.
It is revealed that a second raid occurred this,": afternoon. There were some casualties and the damage was considerable, but reports gave no particulars..
The first raid, which took place this morning, was carried out by 72 twinengined Japanese bombers accompanied by fighters. The second" raid was made by 21 twin-engined bombers. Four enemy aircraft have been brought down.
Mr. Curtin said the Government regarded the attack most gravely. _
