AMERICAN'S WARNING IN
CANADA
MONTREAL, February 17
Mr. H. H. Lehman, Governor of New York State, in a speech at Montreal today on the occasion of the Canadian Victory Loan, gave an emphatic warning against appeasers.
"A stalemate in the world war," he said, "would be equally as dangerous as a defeat of democracy." He added that many things were hampering the Allied war effort, particularly disunity and shortsighted nationalism, and also some people who were still believing in appeasement.
