Although they are at present in mufti Auckland's eighteen new post women are shortly to be provided, it is expected, with the grey gabardine uniforms with their undertoning of brown which are worn by Wellington's postwoman. Auckland is the third town in New Zealand to employ women in post offices. Ten began to learn the work in five suburbs this week, and eight more will begin on Monday to learn delivery work in the city area.

The women were recruited through the Women's War Service Auxiliary. Postmen in the five suburbs where the women are engaged are how taking them with them on their rounds .to show them the work. At present the newcomers are to be employed only on rounds suitable for walking. Later they may be engaged on rounds where bicycles are necessary.
