AGREEMENT REACHED
AWARD FOR COACH AND
BODY BUILDERS
A complete agreement was reached in conciliation council proceedings yesterday for a new Dominion award covering coach and motor-body builders. The basis of the agreement was the acceptance of the existing award, with an increase of meal money to Is 9d, the addition of Anniversary Day to the paid holidays, the acceptance of the improvers' clause in the New Zealand Metal Trades Employees' Award, and payment of tool money to wood workers who supply their own kits. ;
The question of whether the de Havilland Aircraft Company should be included in the list of parties was referred to the Court of Arbitration.
. The employers' assessors gave an undertaking that they would meet in the first week in September to see whether conditions had improved sufficiently to allow them to grant the holidays requested by the workers.
The award comes into force on March 2 next, and will remain in force for two years. ;
