SLUMP IN SHARES
OIL, TEA, AND GOLD

Values of the leading oil companies' shares have fallen by £10,000,000 today. Burmah Oil Company shares alone accounted for £4,000,000. The news from Rangoon has depressed the market even for Indian gold shares, and Ceylon tea1 shares are also marked down. Burmah Oil ordinary shares of £1 each would ordinarily range in value at between 55s and 60s on the London Stock Exchange. The ordinary share capital paid up amounts to £13,736,513, and in addition three issues^of preference shares, amounting to £4,000,000, dividends of which range from 6 per cent, to 8 per cent.
