When a. cartridge exploded in a heap of scrap-metal being sorted at the premises of Bryant Bros., scr^p-metal merchants, 4 Alpha Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, Mr. J. J. Bryant, 13 Riverside Drive, Lower Hutt, received a punctured wound in the right forearm, and Mr. D. McHardy, 52 Ellice Street, had his right hand injured.
The women of Kenya are now to be called up, both British and European, from 18 to 60; if the voluntary response is insufficient the Government will set them to work at fixed wages.
