FRUITLESS ATTACK
JAPANESE IN TIMOR SEA

SYDNEY, Feb. 17,
The Japanese air attack on Allied shipping in the Timor Sea yesterday occupied an hour, according to a communique issued today.
Forty-four Japanese machines participated, but despite the concentrated bombing not one hit was scored.
The communique adds that one Japanese reconnaissance plane appeared over Port Moresby yesterday, but was driven off by anti-aircraft fire.
